Jorge Acevedo is a devoted husband and proud father of two beautiful daughters. He cherishes family time, whether it’s spent laughing together or playing with their four dogs. With a love for sports and a contagious sense of humor, Jorge has a way of bringing joy to those around him.

Jorge holds a B.A. in Foreign Language Education from the University of Central Florida and a Master of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. For over thirty-six years, he has faithfully served as the pastor of Lake Washington Fellowship, where his passion for research, preaching, and teaching continues to inspire his congregation. His heart for ministry reaches far beyond his local church. Jorge has touched the lives of inmates at Sharp's Jail in Brevard County, encouraged students at private schools in Melbourne, and led college chapel services at the Baptist College of Florida. He’s also ventured into mission work, sharing the love of Christ with Indigenous communities deep in the Bolivian jungle through Ethnos 360 (formerly New Tribes Mission) and ministering to churches in the mountains of Guatemala. ​Jorge's commitment to serving others extends to his fifteen years as a chaplain with the Melbourne Police Department, where he offered spiritual support to officers and their families. In 2012, his contributions were honored with the Notable Knight Award from the Brevard County UCF Alumni Chapter.

 

In 2017, Jorge published his first book, Hecklers In Your Crowd: Silencing The Voices That Hold You Back, sharing wisdom on overcoming life’s obstacles. Currently, he’s pouring his creative heart into writing a series of reimagined children's Bible stories, continuing his mission to inspire and teach through storytelling.
